Mindfully Sick (part 3)

April 20, 2016

I’m back again with part 3 of The Just B Well series!  If you have been following the series so far, you know that this is a featured series on my blog only for the month of April and after this series, all future series will be through my newsletters so be sure to stay up to date by subscribing below.

For those of you who haven’t been following or are new to this blog, I would like to say welcome and thank you for choosing to open up your minds by stopping over to read what I’ve got to say!  I do suggest that you read my previous posts ‘Mindfully Sick’ parts 1 and 2 which you will find easily on my blog.  And oh, whilst you are at it, feel free to nose around the rest of my blog to get to know me a little more!

So we’ve been talking about the body and mind relationship and we now understand that we are made up of energy centers throughout our bodies and that when these centers get out of sync or disturbed they can affect the health of our bodies.

The second energy center I want to talk about in this post, is located below the navel/lower abdomen area and is referred to as the ‘Spleen energy center’.  This is the helm of our sensuality and sexuality that represents our creativity and how in touch we are with our feelings and how we able to express them. In essence this is the place where you are allowed to be who you are.

When this energy center is blocked or not aligned some of the following repeated symptoms could show up:

Weak bladder
Endometriosis
Fertility issues/miscarriages
Menstrual pain/difficulties
Prostrate or testicular issues
Fibroids
Candida/yeast infections
Creative blocks

Now as explained in previous posts, aliments in our body are usually a reflection of our bodies trying to get our attention to pass on messages of the subconscious mind to help us straighten and sort out deep issues in our lives. Our lives really mirror what is going on inside our minds and literally our minds have the power to make our lives hell or heaven on earth.  It all depends on how we use it.

With the above symptoms, they usually indicate a number of things relating to how we feel about ourselves and how we feel able or unable to express who we really are.  On a subconscious level these symptoms send a message that for whatever reasons you may be feeling guilt, embarrassment or shame. There’s a feeling of inadequacy you feel and that may cause anger or frustration. There may be a distrust that you have which has caused you to retreat, feel like a victim, expect the worst or persistently blame others. You are not supportive of yourself and you may exhibit traits of punishing or berating yourself.  Much of what you go through is internalized and to the outer world you may appear fine but deep inside there is a hurt or fear that you nurse. Depression, neediness, anger or emotional overwhelm may present itself. Comfort eating or alcohol dependency may also be present. There is an apparent lack of self love.

When symptoms like these come up for you, one of the first things you need to do in figuring what the issues are is to look at how you have been treating yourself.  Are you patient with yourself? speaking and thinking lovingly to and about yourself?  Are you respecting yourself by creating healthy boundaries with others in your life? Take time to study the patterns in you.  You may be able to identify with this straight away but if not that is fine, what I would like you to do is to observe your feelings and thoughts.  One the best ways for me to do this is to write in my journal, but I have also discovered a really cool app (MoodTrack) that helps me to track my moods throughout the day. For a while after tracking, I noticed a clear pattern in my mood and thinking, I was usually angry, frustrated, sad and just felt overwhelmed. As I became more in tuned with myself it made it easier to address certain issues in my life and to become more balanced.

At the end of this series I will be sharing some of the things I do.  I am still very much a work in progress and I am learning everyday.  But for now try out some of these things mentioned above and as always it would be so great to hear from you so do feel free to leave a comment and share with the rest of us.

Till next time, ‘B’ well.

xx
